Brixton Square

We carried-out site studies and submitted the proposals for the setting of public facilities as part of the renovation of Brixton Central Square. Our analyses led us to propose the reduction of the 2 café-locations to 1 central one around the disused public WCs. In this location the café would act as a central unifying hub, close enough to the action to entice people into the square without cutting it in two.

Its design is based on permeability, flexibility and 24hr inhabitation across the site, and this being Brixton, performance and music figure strongly. Working with Brixton Green the café is also proposed as the information hub for local sustainability issues.
